Critical Summary


  The killer is one of the best Hemingway short story. It is written in his characteristic way.He wrote this story in a very simple and short sentences with crisp and and concrete verbs but uses some verbs and phrases to create the suspense and harsh situation of the story.

iiIn this story two gangster or professional killers entered in henry's lunch room at summit in New jersey.They looked same as they dressed like twin, both killers wears black our coat and dorby hat and gloves.They read the menu and ordered for pork tenderloin with apple sauce, the boy at the counter told them  that is dinner meal will ready after 2 hour, the killer got angry then  nick adams( the counter boy) told them that he cab give them bacon and eggs, liver, and bacon or a steak.


      After some argument  they sgreed to have some lighter food.They settled for bacon , ham and eggs and start eating with gloves on.Both behave rudely and the way they talked seemed they were not ordinary customers.After finishing the supper they asked George to call the cook and when he asked the reason they ordered him harshly to do what they told bit still George was not ready then Al assured him that he will not harm him.George called the cook to the hall.


        Max told the George that they came here to kill a swede boxer Ole Anderson Just for the oblige of their friend.

     Ole Anderson did not came to the restaurant for their supper. The killer wait of ole Anderson 2 hours and then leaved the resturant.after the departure of the killer nick went to ole Anderson place to inform him about killers. 
  
Ole Anderson told him that he knew that killers are after him .nick offered him for help but he denied and said nobody could help him .


     Ole Anderson was ready for death he knew that death is not inevitable .he had resigned himself to his fate.
